This project was inspired in part when I was told about Ari Hest, a New York City songwriter, who is selling a song per week for all of 2008 on his website.

Shape of a Heart
I always preface this song by saying it is in no way autobiographical. My parents are great and we get along fine. But I know that our society is rife with people who, for whatever reason, need to emotionally batter the people they are closest to. It’s a sad thing, but some people manage to stop the cycle of violence by a process of self-reflection and realization, and this song celebrates that accomplishment.
